BIS CRS Registration Products List

Products covered by a Quality Control Order (QCO) issued by a central ministry need mandatory BIS certification. They cannot be manufactured, imported, sold or distributed in India without a valid BIS licence (ISI mark) or registration (CRS). This directory lists every product on the mandatory list with its Indian Standard.

The ISI mark comes from BIS's Product Certification Scheme (Scheme-I): BIS inspects the factory and tests samples before granting a licence. CRS, the Compulsory Registration Scheme (Scheme-II), covers mainly electronics and IT goods: the product is tested at a BIS-recognised lab and registered online, and it carries the Standard Mark with an R-number.

Yes. If a product is on the mandatory list, it needs BIS certification whether it is made in India or imported. The foreign manufacturer applies in its own name and appoints an Authorised Indian Representative; customs checks for a valid licence or registration.

The list grows whenever a ministry notifies a new Quality Control Order. This directory is updated from official BIS and Gazette sources, and each product page shows when it was last reviewed.
